Every year during the period of active grain transportation, the turnover of wagons becomes an important factor in efficient transportation. Reduction in turnover of wagons allows to transport more grain by the same fleet in one period.
However, today the situation with the turnover was deteriorated significantly. So, if the average turnover in 2019 was 22.2 days, then in the first half of 2021 the average turnover was 32.0 days, i.e. increased by 44%. This means that the transportation of the planned harvest will require 44% more fleet and, consequently, 44% increase in operator costs. At the same time, the customer is charged the cost of transportation based on the regulatory turnover.
In addition, an increase in the turnover period of wagons leads to the need to maintain a large number of grain transportation fleets, and each additional wagon requires additional repair, maintenance and rental costs.
We draw the attention of all shippers to the need to control the loading and unloading time in order to prevent excessive downtime, and it is also necessary to plan grain loading in advance by submitting applications for transportation in advance.
