For 3 years, JSC "Astyk Trans" (hereinafter – the Company), together with JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (hereinafter – KTZ), implemented a routing project from loading sites to destination stations. Routes are sent by one shipper from one or more nearby stations to the address of one consignee. One train is formed that does not require changes along the route, which significantly speeds up the delivery time. This is beneficial primarily to JSC "NC "KTZ", because the speed of cargo movement increases, unnecessary formation of the composition is eliminated, the safety of cargo on the route is ensured due to the absence of downtime at technical stations. And the most important advantage of using route shipments for KTZ is unloading of infrastructure. In 2022 and 2023, more than 800 routes were sent, mainly in the export direction.
For market participants, mass routing resulted in a significant reduction in travel time, an increase in the loading resource, when more cargo is transported by one number of grain carriers.
Thanks to routing, it was possible to keep the turnover in average annual figures, while single domestic transportation allowed non-compliance with the speed regulations up to 2 times.
Freight forwarders of wagons, due to routing, kept the cost of providing wagons below the market value, both for domestic transportation and for export
To date, as a result of the unilateral revision of these agreements by the Carrier, the project on the organization of route shipments from the loading sites ceases to exist.
Following the results of September this year, an analysis of the speed of movement will be carried out, which according to the forecast will be lower than the speed of following according the Rules of Cargo transportation, and, for objective reasons affecting the entire market, the Company, like other freight forwarders and wagon operators, will consider the issue of indexing the cost of providing services.
At the same time, we note that the Company, together with other wagon operators and the National Carrier JSC NC KTZ, is ready to discuss the resumption of the organization of route shipments necessary to ensure uninterrupted grain export in the 2023-2024 season.
